It's a bit difficult without knowing the age of family members to answer, because I now propose to different games for young players for pre-adolescents or adolescents. Basically, I think you want something that appeals to all, is easy to learn and have fun, and can be multiple players - that usually means, at least, or more, 4 players. Also "team" situations that are normally in "Party Games" ...
Here are some of my favorites past and present, for the reproduction of the family in general:
* Liar Dice (a very fun game of bluff, the best for each game, but no equipment. Also sells Pirate Dice, but this version comes with the team of 4 players to be "safe" (only 4 players) and "Cachito (up to 6 players, if I remember correctly). I think at least one pipe version is still available at Target or Walmart and ToysRus. Now it's easy to make (and cheaply) make your own version - only a cup and 5 dice per person - and have as many players as you want- I have before with 10.

* Yahtzee Free For All (a new game that there is a really fun touch on the tired old game Yahtzee, usually found at Wal-Mart and Target and ToysRus)

* Easily learn Qwirkle (at all ages and is good for the strategy, said he only played 4, but I played with two teams and up to 6 people. Aim for spring 2009 will be available at retail is especially til Games stores or online - are useful if!)

"Party" means the kind of games, I suggest:
* Searches Cranium (a great game to play for the team, probably one of the best, contains elements from other games like Scrabble, puzzles, charades. It is easy to find at Wal-Mart, target or toysrus)

* Not apples to apples (my favorite, but I know that many people appreciate this, knowing how often at Wal-Mart and Target and ToysRus)

Balderdash * (an oldie, but always pleasant, I think, a version that can still be found at Target or Walmart and ToysRus)

* Scattergories (another oldie, but always funny how the most at Wal-Mart and Target and ToysRus)

* Taboo (another oldie, but always funny how the most at Wal-Mart and Target and ToysRus)

They are the ones that come to mind quickly ...
Hope this helps - have fun!
My favorite of all time started out as a game we all played in a few sheets of paper with lots of little squares in each. 2 seats representing a patrol boat, 3 seats, a submarine or a destroyer, aircraft carriers, 5 seats, 4 seats, and a battleship.
